Note: Oaxaca (pronounced Wa-HAH-ka) lies about 330 miles
south-east of Mexico City and is an extremely artistic region. Alebrije
(pronounced A-le-bri-hey) is a term used in Mexican Folk Art meaning fanciful
animals typically hand carved from the Copal Tree. There are three
towns that specialize in making these carvings: San Antonio Arrazola, La
Union Tejalapam, and San Martin Tilcajete. |
